David Martin has been senior historic buildings officer at Archaeology South-East, University College, London since 1992. He has been researching vernacular buildings in East Sussex since 1967 and (with his wife Barbara) has written papers and books on the subject, including Farm Buildings of the Weald, 1450-1750 and the series Historic Buildings in Eastern Sussex (1977-1991).
